Grass
An increasing number of manufacturers make static grass for ‘N’ gauge. Ideally, you’ll need fibres that are between 1mm and 2.5mm but, unlike the larger scales, one application will generally suffice. The one difference between planting the shortest grass fibres and the longer ones is that you need to be very careful of the size of the holes in the sieve on your electrostatic grass planting tool. If the holes are too wide, the grass fibres will just drop through, even before the machine is turned on. For tiny applications of grass fibres, the Pro Grass Precision Applicator from WWS is specifically designed for planting electrostatic grass in tight spaces and for adding the finishing touches to a layout. The Pro Grass Precision Applicator runs on a 9V battery supplying 15kv DC power to apply charge to the grass. The device is supplied with a small pot of glue, plus two sample bags of short green grass.
