ARTEMISIA. CD/DL/LP Wilderness-worshipping black metal crew steeped in pagan lore on latest epic.

Since selfreleasing their first demos in the early ’00s, Wolves In The Throne Room have become high-profile torchbearers of Cascadian black metal, a singular subgenre rooted in the Cascade region of the US North-west. Inspired by the forests and mountains of their Washington state base, the group’s environmentally-focused outlook and darkly psychedelic sound set the bar high for many like-minded long hairs. With Anna Von Hausswolff and Neurosis’s Steve Von Till guesting, Thrice Woven stirs Norse and Gaelic legend into a bewitching barrage of arboreal-metal fury and black-winged flight, somewhere between early Darkthrone and Godspeed You! Black Emperor, that tells of the hallowed return of spring, the birth of Fenrir Wolf and the omnipotent power of mother nature.
