In Roger McGough’s won­der­ful ac­count­ing of the story of Yel­low Sub­ma­rine [MOJO 297], he states that “the know-all Nowhere Man Jeremy Boob was [Lee] Mi­noff ’s par­ody of Bri­tish theatre di­rec­tor Jonathan Miller….” Not so fast! I was at Yale at that time where Erich Se­gal, co-writer of the orig­i­nal script, taught – as did the pro­fes­sor of me­dieval his­tory Jeremy Adams, who Erich Se­gal clearly used as the model for Jeremy Boob.
