‘I tugged hard on my trouser zip but it wasn’t budging. Standing in front of the hotel mirror, needing to hurry to get to a work meeting, I stared at my belly. It seemed to have expanded overnight. My gaping blouse was another giveaway – I could hardly fasten the buttons! With just an hour to go until my meeting, there was no time to buy bigger clothes. I’d only packed two outfits for my short business trip, and the people I was due to meet had seen me in my other one the previous day. And no one at work knew I was pregnant yet! I scrabbled in my overnight case and found a strappy vest top which, combined with a longer cardigan, hid that tell-tale zip. My colleagues and boss were none the wiser. I, on the other hand, was in shock! Until that point, my pregnancy hadn’t felt real. Now, seeing my body alter, there was no denying there was a life growing inside me. It was so exciting and I realised my life was about to change.’
