‘I didn’t need to consult my shopping list in the supermarket’s chilled aisle. One item has been a staple in our weekly shop ever since my pregnancy cravings kicked in – bacon. I grabbed a bumper pack and placed it in the trolley. But something caught my eye, and I instinctively picked up the packet. Glancing at the expiry date, I noticed it was a few weeks away. To my shock, I realised it was two days after my due date. I gasped, reeling at the idea that a packet of supermarket bacon had a longer life span than my pregnancy! I’d thought I had ages until the baby was born but this put everything into perspective. It felt overwhelming and exciting. Later that day, my husband James and I assembled the baby’s new pram – my supermarket shock has spurred us into action!’
