Time for tea

Mother & Baby (UK) - - UPFRONT -

THERE AREN’T MANY problems that can’t be at least partly solved by putting the kettle on, and this clever mum-hack to soothe post-birth inflammation or discomfort using tea is no different. Place four chamomile teabags in a jug of boiling water, cover, and leave to steep for 30 minutes. Then lay a couple of maternity pads on a baking tray, soft-side up, and pour the tea on until each is fully soaked. Place the tray in the fridge for at least an hour, then find a thick towel to stick on the sofa, pop a cooling pad in your pants, and sit down and relax for 15 minutes. You can find more straight-talking tips in The Little Book of Self-care for New Mums by Beccy Hands and Alexis Strickland (£12.99, penguinrandom house.co.uk).
