Former Ferrari F1 sporting director quits team to aid F3 protege Stroll
Ex-ferrari Formula 1 sporting director Luca Baldisserri has left the team to mentor Williams development driver Lance Stroll.
Baldisserri masterminded the Ferrari Driver Academy, which Canadian Stroll used to be part of.
He will now oversee Stroll’s progress at Williams and his European Formula 3 campaign with Prema Powerteam.
“Luca’s going to be very close with Williams and especially Prema to help us all try and do a great job next year,” said Stroll, 17. “He’s been with me since a very young age, when he chose me to come on the Ferrari programme.
“He’s very good at watching what’s going on between the team and the driver. He’s quiet when he has to be, but when it’s time to speak he says some good things.”
Stroll impressed in his maiden F3 season in 2015, finishing fifth. Stroll will make his sportscar debut at the Daytona 24 Hours later this month. He will co-drive a Ford Ecoboost prototype with Brendon Hartley/alex Wurz/andy Priaulx.
