Former Ginetta Junior driver Esmee Hawkey will graduate to the GT Cup this year, driving one of the new Porsche Cayman Clubsport GT4 cars.

The 17-year-old will race for experienced Porsche team GT Marques in the series after contesting the majority of the Ginetta season in 2015 with JHR Developments.

“I am really excited about this opportunity and looking forward to pre-season testing once the car arrives in March,” she said. “It’s onwards and upwards towards my goal of joining a manufacturer’s junior team in the future.”

GT Marques boss Paul Mace added: “We are in talks with two or three other drivers, trying to find someone who will complement Esmee.

“It’s exciting to run the new car, no-one has seen it yet. If it’s like what has happened with new Porsches in the past, it will be well-made and reliable straight away.”
