One of the new highlights of the Castle Combe calendar will be a fresh classic event in mid-april, marking 50 years of the Historic Sports Car Club.
In May 1966, a modest race for sports and sports-racing car of 10 years age or more was the catalyst for the formation of one of the UK’S most successful race organising clubs.
Half a century ago, that inaugural Griffiths Formula race at Castle Combe was won by the Jaguar D-type of Neil Corner and the HSCC was born.
To mark this landmark occasion, the HSCC will start its racing season in Wiltshire for the first time with a full weekend of racing covering most of its classes. Historic Formula Ford, Historic Touring Cars, Guards Trophy and Historic F3 will be some of the leading attractions. The enthusiastic local crowd should love the action.
The circuit, through the end-of-season Autumn Classic, has already shown it is more than capable of running a major historic event and now the track’s 2016 season will be book-ended by cracking historic race meetings.
