It has run only once since the original demise of motorsport at the hotel, but the 2015 Chateau Impney Hill Climb was a major hit.

The 2016 edition will run over the second weekend in July and promises to be even better, with around 200 cars in competition.

Keeping as true as possible to the course used through until 1967, the new track was widened, surfaced and extended at major expense to form the basis of a new long-term annual celebration of motorsport history.

With cars from up to 1967 – the first chapter in the venue’s history – the entry is high on diversity and quality and ERAS featured prominently in 2015. The action is set in manicured grounds and the hill rushes along in front of the chateau before swinging right and climbing sufficiently to confirm hillclimb status.

Relaxed, uncrowded, competitive on track and backed up by lots of off-track attractions, it’s already a great event and will only get better as it continues to run.
