Sure, Knockhill isn’t the most expansive of British Touring Car Championship events. But what it lacks in size, it more than makes up for in terms of atmosphere and action.
What makes Knockhill so special, aside from all that it offers on circuit, is the open paddock. Nowhere else on the BTCC calendar do the fans get as close to the cars and the drivers. You can’t walk 10 paces without spotting a driver.
The facilities at the circuit are homely and the staff are friendly. There is a real sense of occasion when the British Touring Car Championship rolls in to town and everyone involved in the event pulls out all the stops to make sure it runs smoothly.
Out on the circuit, Knockhill offers some of the most challenging corners in the BTCC and, during the first half of the lap, drivers are off the ground as much as they are on it. If you were only to go to one BTCC meeting a year, we’d recommend it to be this one.
