Motor Sport News - - Where To Go This Season -

When you think of a classic festival of historic racing, the mind jumps oh-so-easily to the racetrack on the south coast. But don’t forget about the Gold Cup, a gem in itself.

Headlining the event is the Derek Bell Trophy, with a selection of F5000, Formula Atlantic and Formula 2 cars on offer. Marc Dwyer (March 742) and Mark Charteris (Mallock Mk20/21) won the two races last year.

Also on offer is the Guards Trophy for pre-1966 GT cars, plus Historic Touring Cars, Formula Fords and a Jaguar Challenge among others.

The compact paddock is a bustling sight with the eclectic cars on show.

As a top tip, watch from Cascades where you’ll see the cars ride the camber of the left-hand corner.

At the same time you can see the cars emerge over Hilltop and down into the tight and testing Knickerbrook chicane.
