Laffey to BRC in Ca1-backed Ford Fiesta R5
Four-time MSA Asphalt Junior champion Alex Laffey will join Fredrik Ahlin at CA1 Sport for the upcoming British Rally Championship season.
Laffey, who hasn’t competed on gravel since 2011, will drive a Ford Fiesta R5 partnered by co-driver Andrew Roughead.
Laffey acknowledges a lack of experience on gravel, but believes he’ll get progressively quicker through the year.
“We’ve made a commitment to do a full British Rally Championship programme this year, including the gravel rallies,” said the Scot. “The aim is to progress through the season and see where we end up. I’ve never driven an R5 car on gravel before, so I’m not really expecting to set the world alight on the opening Mid Wales Stages.
“However, I’d like to think we’ll be up there fighting against the very best on the Tarmac.”
Laffey enters his sixth year with the Martin Wilkinson-run CA1 Sport outft from Cumbria.
