Jewiss stars at WSK Cham­pi­ons Cup

Bri­tish driver Kiern Jewiss won the Ok-ju­nior class in the WSK Cham­pi­ons Cup at Adria last week­end, grab­bing the lead on the fi­nal lap.

The 13-year-old was mak­ing his de­but in the cat­e­gory in North­ern Italy and it was also his first race since join­ing For­mula 1 driver Daniel Ric­cia­rdo’s kart­ing team.

The Su­per One Na­tional Ro­tax Minimax cham­pion climbed up the or­der in the Fi­nal to take the win on the last lap af­ter pass­ing French­man Ti­mothy Peis­selon.

Ric­cia­rdo wrote on Twit­ter: “Not a bad first week­end in the kart. Well done guys.”

Fin Ken­neally made it two Bri­tons on the podium in third. It was the first time the new OK en­gines had been used in a ma­jor race. Amer­i­can Lo­gan Sargeant won in the OK divi­sion, the 2015 World Ju­nior cham­pion beat­ing Karol Basz. Paolo De Conto won in KZ2 and Michael Pa­paro took 60 Mini.
