Ford Fiesta champion Ross plans Clio switch
Fiesta champion JJ Ross plans to race in the Renault UK Clio Cup this year.
Ross’s father Bob bought a car at the end of last year, but a mechanical problem over Christmas meant they have only just started testing. The delay means it is uncertain whether Ross will be on the grid at Brands Hatch on April 2/3 for round one.
“We’re working flat-out to try and get JJ on the grid at Brands Hatch,” said Bob Ross. “But we’re about two months behind on our schedule. We want to be going out there with a chance of doing well and to make sure JJ is confident in the car.”
Ross said that he plans to run his son in the series without being part of one of the existing teams.
“There’s no reason why we can’t run the car ourselves,” he added. “JJ is so good at giving feedback and I’ve been racing for years.”
