National Hot Rod legends Barry Lee, George Polley and Mick ‘Duffy’ Collard returned to Wimbledon Stadium last weekend to help highlight the stadium’s battle against demolition.

Planning permission has been granted for a new football stadium and houses on the site and campaigners are trying to save the venue.

As part of last Sunday’s Classic Hot Rod meeting, which could be the final time Hot Rods run at the venue, there was a match race between Collard and Lee, and Lee emerged victorious. They were joined on track by Scottish legend Kenny Ireland. Lee also regaled the packed crowd with stories of Wimbledon and its history.
