Sauber’s technical director Mark Smith insists that not running its new car at the first test won’t prove costly for the team. The Swiss outfit used last year’s car at the opening test last week ahead of the debut of the C35 at the second test, which began yesterday (Tuesday) after MN closed for press. “I don’t think it’s going to hurt us too much,” said Smith. “Rather than focusing too much energy worrying about it, we decided to extract as much as we can with the old car that is relevant. If we have a half-decent test with the new car, we’ll be fine.” C35 launch pics, page 24
