Scorpio to delay its MSA Formula entry
Scorpio Motorsport will not take part in the first few rounds of the Ford MSA Formula season but plans a two-car entry later in the year.
The team didn’t compete in the category in 2015 but has two drivers lined up for this season. However budget concerns and school commitments mean they are unable to start the year.
“I think we will have two drivers later in the year, just not from beginning,” said team boss Jon Pettitt. “I don’t go into any championship to be at the back and want to make sure they’re ready.”
Scorpio will also run a two-litre Formula Renault car in the Monoposto series this year for former Mazda MX-5 racer James Harris.
“It will be a different challenge to race mainly against F3 cars,” said Pettitt.
“We need to do something with the Renault cars since the BARC championship died.”
