Merc’s works

Motor Sport News - - Racing News -

Mercedes is working with parent company Daimler to try and develop new clutch hardware in an effort to improve its race starts. Both Mercedes have struggled to get off the line with the new manual single-clutch system this year, with Lewis Hamilton letting two consecutive pole positions slip. Mercedes team head Toto Wolff said: “We tend to believe it’s more of a hardware issue than just a control electronics problem and you can’t solve that from one race to another. We are working to try and sort it out. The way we assess and calibrate clutches, and obviously how the drivers operate them, needs to be optimised.”
