Lamborghinis to feature in GT Cup
The 2016 GT Cup will boast two new Lamborghinis, with both a Huracan GT3 and Reiter Gallardo GT3 R-EX on the grid.
Darren Nelson and Nigel Greensall will swap their Ferrari 458 for a new Huracan GT3, which will be run by new team Nielsen Racing with support from factory Squadra Corse engineers.
Series regular Nigel Mustill has also swapped from his Riley prototype after buying a new Gallardo GT3 R-EX from German tuning firm Reiter Engineering. The new car has a 5.2-litre V10 producing over 600bhp, as well as a wider rear axle and revised bodywork over earlier iterations of the Gallardo.
Mustill will share the new car with experienced pro racer Craig Dolby.
“It’s a works car rebuilt with a new chassis, engine and gearbox,” said Mustill. “I’m expecting delivery soon and we will do as many GT Cup races as we can. We will do a shakedown as soon as the car arrives and then see where we are. It’s a lovely bit of kit.”
Neil Huggins has also registered a Super Trofeo-spec Gallardo, making it three Lamborghinis in the series.
