GT4 champion Chadwick secures deal to contest season opener
Reigning British GT4 champion Jamie Chadwick has secured a late deal to contest the first rounds of the series this year with the new Superracing team.
Chadwick will race at both this weekend’s season-opener at Brands Hatch and the following event at Rockingham in place of Superdry founder James Holder, who has business commitments.
Chadwick will share the team’s Aston Martin Vantage GT4 with series newcomer Matt George. Chadwick was only due to contest the final three British GT rounds, sharing a Beechdean Vantage GT4 with Paul Hollywood.
Chadwick said: “This year has got very busy all of a sudden. I was surprised but very flattered to get the offer to join Superracing. It will be interesting to work with a new team and I know Matt has a lot of experience from coaching drivers on simulators [at Base Performance], but he hasn’t got much GT racing experience.
“It’s my A-level exams, so racing has to be balanced. I don’t think a title defence is on as I’m missing Oulton Park and Silverstone, and Silverstone is worth the most points all year as it’s three hours. It will be a fun year anyway.” ● Chadwick also took part in a BRDC British F3 test at Snetterton last week with Hillspeed to gain extra aero experience.
