Jackson joins new Young Stars KTM series
British racer Rebecca Jackson will contest the new Reiter Young Stars series in Europe this year at the wheel of a KTM X-bow GT4.
Jackson, who has competed in the GT Cup and BRSCC Porsche series in recent season, is the first Briton to sign up to the new class.
The Young Stars series is a new one-make class run in association with KTM. It holds races within SRO’S European GT4 Series and promotes rising engineering talent by having two student engineers work on each car. Reiter Engineering also supplies a professional engineer to oversee each car. Jackson’s co-driver has not yet been confirmed.
Jackson, who has aspirations to race in the Le Mans 24 Hours, said: “Reiter approached me about joining so I went to Germany to see the car and fell in love with it. The KTM will be very different to what I’ve raced before. The Porsche 911 GT3 Cup I raced last year was more powerful and had an aggressive gearbox, the KTM is much more lightweight, agile and has a flat floor so I’ll be racing with aerodynamics for the first time.
“The Young Stars series is a really interesting programme so it will be an exciting season and the top scoring male and female drivers win a fully funded seat in the Blancpain GT Series for 2017, so there’s clear progression.”
