Leading Ferrari squad is back for British GT
Crack Ferrari squad AF Corse will return to the British GT Championship this year.
The multiple Le Mans- and titlewinning team contested the 2014 series with several Ferrari 458 GT3S, but was absent last season.
It now plans to run British GT race winner Aaron Scott and John Dillon in selected 2016 events. AF will enter the Donington Park (April 23-24) and Brands Hatch (May 7-8) rounds of GT Cup before running the duo in British GT at Silverstone (June 11-12) and Donington Park (September 10-11). Further events could be added to the schedule.
Team boss Amato Ferrari said: “I have always kept in touch with John and Aaron. As soon as a new opportunity arrived, we gladly took it. UK motorsport is very lively and passionate, with so many fans at the races. The championships are also organised in a professional manner.”
Ferrari did not rule out expanding the British GT attack in future. “We hope for this and will try to do our best to create other possibilities,” he added.
Scott and Dillon will race a 458 initially, but could switch to the new-for-2016 488 later in the year.
