JTR team still hopeful of fielding two MSA Formula cars this year
MSA Formula squad JTR is still looking for drivers to compete in the category after running a single car for Dane Patrik Matthiesen so far in 2016.
The team won the series in its final two years as Formula Ford in 2013 and 2014 but has struggled since single-seater powerhouses like Carlin, Arden and Fortec joined last year when it became Britain’s FIA F4 category.
“We are still looking for other drivers,” said team manager Nick Madge. “It just seems quiet. It’s hard to find people with budget.”
The team has therefore decided to put one of its three Mygale chassis up for sale. “We’ve got three cars and there’s no point having them standing around doing nothing,” added Madge. “We can survive easily enough with two.”
Matthiesen has had a difficult start to his first season in singleseaters and has been struggling with engine issues. Madge is confident the team has now got to the bottom of these and there should be an improvement.
