Beare returns to the top for the first time since ’09
Event: Pennine Sporting Trial Organiser: Airedale and Pennine Motor Club When: April 24 Starters: 23.
Four months into his return to Sporting Trials, Stuart Beare won the Pennine in Derbyshire, with son Sam passengering.
Beare has only won one trial before, back in 2009, and became the eighth winner of the season.
Peter Fensom took the early lead, before Beare took over from lunch.
Reigning British champion Roland Uglow had a dreadful second round as a rain shower massively altered hills, but he showed his flair on the final eight hills to climb back to second overall. Andy Wilks was tied for the lead at lunch, but an afternoon mistake dropped him to fourth.
After a great first round, Bryan Walker slipped back to fifth place at the end. He just beat Boyd Webster, who won the intermediate class.
Jeff Armistead won the clubman class in seventh overall and top-live axle, ahead of identical twins Jerome and John Fack in identical cars.
The novice class was won by Pat Henson from Mike Salton.
