Nico’s going to lose it

Motor Sport News - - Sporting Scene -

Whilst everyone appears to be saying it is now over – Nico Rosberg has, after all, won the first three races thus far – 2016 is different.

Analysis of the last 22 years of F1 has witnessed a ridiculous dose of luck to assist Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel to count their number of titles. Without the lady of fortune shining on them it would be fair to say they would have more likely won four and two each.

So far it seems the Teutonic lady of fortune is showering the same blessings on her newest progeny. But this is different.

Like his compatriots, Rosberg does exhibit an element of natural ability. But he has also struck an amazing run of fortune – and this means it is also now stacked against him.

He does not have the depth of talent his team-mate has and it is only a matter of time before he is caught – and will, for him – once again be number two at the end of the season. Paul Webster Via email
