F1 commentator Brundle to race Ligier JS P3 in LMP3 enduro on Le Mans undercard
Former Formula 1 driver Martin Brundle will compete in the inaugural Le Mans LMP3 race this year, driving a United Autosports Ligier JS P3.
The F1 commentator will take part in the hour-long support race to the Le Mans 24 Hours in the same car his son Alex races in the European Le Mans Series.
Brundle will share the car with Christian England – who made his racing comeback after a 13-year absence when he won the ELMS opener at Silverstone with United Autosports.
Brundle said: “This golden opportunity allows me to drive the full Le Mans circuit again in a prototype. It’s always such a pleasure and privilege to drive that magnificent circuit, so I grabbed the opportunity to rejoin United Autosports, after our last successful adventure in the 2011 Daytona 24 hours. At 57 years of age I consider this a wonderful bonus.”
England added: “It will be a huge privilege. If you’d have said to me six months ago I would be back racing again I wouldn’t have believed it, and yet here we are entering a race at Le Mans.”
