Team Parker pulls off Bentley repair
The Team Parker Racing crew had to work an allnighter to get its Bentley Continental GT3 ready in time for the British GT race at Rockingham last weekend after it was heavily damaged on Saturday morning.
Rick Parfitt Jr was at the wheel when the car slid on oil out of Gracelands corner during free practice one and collided with the barriers on School Straight. The team measured the impact at 4g.
Team Parker staff dashed back to its Desford base to collect spares and pulled an almost 24-hour shift to get the car back out for Parfitt and Seb Morris on Sunday.
“The impact punched two holes in the chassis and took almost the entire right-hand side out,” said Stuart Parker. “We had to change both bumpers, the front cooling pack, both corners and repair the chassis. The carbonfibre specialist was working until 0700hrs on the bodywork.”
Parfitt and Morris endured a difficult race also. Parfitt was tipped into a spin early on and then collided with Jon Minshaw’s Lamborghini, earning a stop-go penalty. The duo finished 10th.
