Ford’s new GT car claimed its maiden vic­tory last week­end, with Richard West­brook and Ryan Briscoe tri­umph­ing in the GTLM class of the IMSA Sportscar race at La­guna Seca. The Ford duo fin­ished sixth over­all, with Ligier-honda pair­ing John Pew and Oswaldo Ne­gri Jr claim­ing the win – end­ing Michael Shank Rac­ing’s four-year vic­tory drought… The planned in­au­gu­ral Boston Indy­car race has been can­celled. The first event was due to take place in Septem­ber but it has now been axed from the cal­en­dar due to ob­jec­tions to the race from city of­fi­cials. Se­ries or­gan­is­ers are now eval­u­at­ing op­tions for a re­place­ment race… For­mula E is an­other cat­e­gory seek­ing a re­place­ment round af­ter its Moscow event looks un­likely to take place. Se­ries CEO Ale­jan­dro Agag is look­ing at al­ter­na­tive lo­ca­tions… The Aus­tralian V8 Su­per­cars will drop the ‘V8’ part of its name in July as the cat­e­gory will in­tro­duce new rules next sea­son that per­mit V6 and four-cylin­der en­gines. The se­ries will now be called the Vir­gin Aus­tralia Su­per­cars Cham­pi­onship af­ter seal­ing a spon­sor­ship deal with the Vir­gin Aus­tralia air­line… Brad Ke­selowski won the NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Tal­ladega last week­end for Team Penske, de­spite a num­ber of late cau­tion pe­ri­ods. Kyle Busch and Austin Dil­lon com­pleted the podium…
