BTCC driver Hill makes historic racing debut in Classic K at Silverstone
British Touring Car driver Jake Hill made his historic racing debut at Silverstone last weekend in the Classic Sports Car Club’s Classic K race.
Hill shared an Austin Healey MKIIA with Jack Rawles and finished seventh overall and third in class.
Rawles’ father owns the car and was due to drive it but suffered an injury in his workshop that prevented him racing, so Hill was drafted in.
“Jack used to race in Ginetta Junior and Jake used to coach him, so he got to know the family really well,” said Hill’s father Simon. “Unfortunately a wheelnut came loose in the race and they pitted so lost a bit of time. Then it happened again around the driver change so Jake was about 18th when he went back out and just got stuck in. He was comfortably fastest in the class.
“He thoroughly enjoyed it and he hopes to share the car with Jack at other events, depending on budget.”
