No sympathy

Red Bull’s Helmut Marko says he has no sympathy toward Mercedes, should the German firm lose its performance advantage to the new 2017 engine rules. From next year, F1 bosses want all engine suppliers to converge performance and eventually have four brands of power unit running within three tenths of a second of each other. When asked if he sympathised with Mercedes, which stands to lose the most of the four brands, Marko told Formula1.com: “Not at all. Now all teams again have the chance to close the gap. We believe the races have to be more exciting again – not so predictable.”
