Ex-british GT ace Sugden returns in GT Asia
Former British GT champion Tim Sugden will return to a full season of racing in this year’s GT Asia Series.
Sugden had a four-year break as he concentrated on driver management and coaching but will now race a Porsche Type 991 GT3-R for Gruppem Racing in the Asian series, which starts in Korea this weekend.
Sudgen said: “This is going to be a big challenge up against some good drivers.”
Sugden also took part in the opening round of the Renault Sport Trophy last month. He finished third in the Endurance Trophy race, sharing an R.S.01 with Lewis Williamson for Strakka Racing as regular driver Nick Leventis had clashing World Endurance commitments.
“It’s a serious racing car with lots of downforce and carbon brakes – it was fantastic,” said Sugden. “It was a cool challenge to get into a car like that and get my head around it. I was really pleased with the way it went and it was great to get fastest lap in the Am class race.”
