Tinker scores assured win at Three Sisters

Martyn Tinker and Iain Paterson enjoyed an incidentfree run to head the standings throughout and take a comfortable victory in their Lotus Exige in Wigan.
The battle for second place went to the wire, with Brandon Smith/chris Sharpe-simkiss finally claiming the runner-up spot after bringing their Darrian T9 home a second ahead of Martin Hodgson/ Roy Bell’s Ford Escort Mk2.
Smith had held second spot for much of the day after displacing the Sunbeam of Stuart and Louise Gilks on the third stage.
The father-and-daughter pairing eventually finished fifth after losing fourth to the Escort Mk2 of Mark Kelly/ Andy Baker on the final stage.
An excursion onto the grass dropped Mike English and novice co-driver Gary Hyman down the order, forcing the Escort Mk2 pairing to settle for sixth ahead of Howard Potter/martin Haggett, who had pirouetted their Sunbeam on SS1. Dale and Mark Carter were another crew who dropped time with an off, ultimately finishing eighth in their Subaru Impreza.
Robert Hughes/sion Cunniff finished ninth in their Ford Focus RWD ahead of Mike Taylor/cat Lund’s Sunbeam.
