Rally 4 wales launched
A campaign hoping to raise awareness over the future of rallying in Wales has been launched on social media.
The Rally 4 wales slogan and hashtag has been coined to help raise awareness over the fragile position of Welsh rallying, as the Motor Sports Association and Natural Resource Wales are yet to agree a deal for the use of NRW forests for rallying.
The current deal ends on June 1, with a stalemate in talks meaning the future of the sport in the region – including Britain’s round of the World Rally Championship – are under threat.
While developments in the negotiations between the MSA and NRW have been thin on the ground due to last week’s election in Wales, MN understands a number of ministers and government officials have raised their concerns over the loss of rallying to Wales with NRW.
Since the group’s Facebook was launched last week, it already has over 3500 ‘likes’ as MN went to press and the page itself has had over 30,000 views. You can join the campaign and read about future plans – including a petition – on its facebook (facebook.com/rallyingmeansbusiness) and Twitter (@officialr4w) pages.
