Despite a mid-rally stall, Damian Toner made it two Loughgall wins in a row in his Ford Escort Mk2 by 22s.
With Denver Rafferty on the notes, the crew were quickest on the 3.5-mile SS1 by 7.6s ahead of David Armstrong. After SS2 William Mcclurkin (Escort Mk2) was closest, with early damp conditions to his liking, before concentrating on class position.
Keith White and Damian Mccann were a winning combination in 2014 in the Mk1version Ford Escort – and the pair moved into second following SS3. When Toner stalled the gap was down from 20.4s to 6.2s but the lead was never lost and the advantage was increased by another 15.8s.
Armstrong and Paul Mulholland moved back to second before White took the place on the final stage to finish 3.8s up.
The flamboyant Martin Toner took fourth in his Talbot Sunbeam. And Mervyn Wedlock’s park experience placed him fifth.
