Munnings set for European championship debut in Ypres
Catie Munnings will make her European championship debut after finalising a deal to contest the Ypres Rally in a Sainteloc Racing Peugeot 208 R2.
The 18-year-old had planned to debut on the Circuit of Ireland but time constraints meant the option to focus on the Belgian asphalt event was favoured.
“The licence is sent off and we’re all ready to go,” said Munnings, whose father Chris competed in Belgium in the 1989 and 1990. “Next week I’m going to the south of France to test with the team and that will only be the second time in the car so that will be really useful. Charles Martin is going to train me out there and be my mentor, and Anne [Katherina Stein] is coming out to work on pacenotes. So it will be a great opportunity for us to all gel together.”
Munnings will test the week before Ypres before joining the Junior ERC experience, which is a training day attended by Hayden Paddon and Thierry Neuville to talk about nutrition, media training and recceing.
