Williams returns on Severn Valley Rally
Sara Williams will return to action in her Subaru Impreza for the first time since last October when she contests the Severn Valley Stages this weekend.
Williams was chosen to visit Qatar for an assessment programme with the prize of winning a drive on the 2016 Sealine Cross Country Rally, but hasn’t rallied since the Cambrian late last year.
“It’s only half an hour up the road from home which helps,” said Williams. “We’ll just do oneoff events this year and will have a look at what’s next after the Severn Valley.”
Patrick Walsh will co-drive Williams for the first time since the Red Dragon Rally last June.
Also among the entries is British Rally Championship competitor Ollie Mellors, who is hoping to get some seat time ahead of the Scottish and Nicky Grist rounds of the championship which fall two weeks apart.
Gwynnespeed Rally champion Ross Leach is hoping to make the step up to a B13 Subaru Impreza after confirming he won’t defend his 2015 title. With Hannah Mckillop alongside, he’s hoping to put together a deal to drive Dan Moss’s car in what will be his first rally in a four-wheel-drive car.
The event is a round of the Welsh championship, which is led by Luke Francis. Andy Davies trails by just eight points.
