REMEMBERING INDY 500 HERO DAN WHELDON
A new book celebrates the life of the late Dan Wheldon and follows his path from the UK to the pinnacle in the USA
Dan Wheldon was a hero of British motorsport, but was better known by American fans than European ones after his Indy Racing League title in 2005 and his brace of Indy 500 victories in 2005 and 2011.
After that last victory, five years ago, Wheldon was killed competing in the final round of the Indycar season in Las Vegas in October.
To celebrate the life of one of the sport’s most determined and colourful characters, Jeff Olson and Andy Hallbery have combined to publish Lionheart: Remembering Dan Wheldon.
Here, we print a small selection of some of the memories they have gathered. ● Lionheart :Remembering Dan Wheldon is available now. Published by Lionheart Books LLC. ISBN 978-0-9926421-9-8. Price £49.99. Part of the proceeds benefits two charities – the Alzheimer’s Association and the DCW Foundation, created to allow the charity work that Wheldon started when he was alive to continue.
