A new book cel­e­brates the life of the late Dan Whel­don and fol­lows his path from the UK to the pin­na­cle in the USA

Dan Whel­don was a hero of Bri­tish mo­tor­sport, but was bet­ter known by Amer­i­can fans than Euro­pean ones af­ter his Indy Rac­ing League ti­tle in 2005 and his brace of Indy 500 vic­to­ries in 2005 and 2011.

Af­ter that last vic­tory, five years ago, Whel­don was killed com­pet­ing in the fi­nal round of the Indycar sea­son in Las Ve­gas in Oc­to­ber.

To cel­e­brate the life of one of the sport’s most de­ter­mined and colour­ful char­ac­ters, Jeff Ol­son and Andy Hall­bery have com­bined to pub­lish Lion­heart: Re­mem­ber­ing Dan Whel­don.
