BTCC man Epps joins factory Sin team for GT4
British Touring Car Championship driver Michael Epps made his GT4 debut at Silverstone last weekend after joining the factory Sin team.
Epps, who races a Toyota Avensis for Team Hard in the BTCC, was a late addition to the entry sharing a 6.2-litre V8 Sin R1 GT4 with Hendrick Still. The pair failed to finish after Epps was forced into the gravel in his first stint while avoiding an accident in front of him, and the car later suffered a broken steering rack after Still was hit.
“It was a shame the race didn’t go to plan as we made up 15 places on the first lap,” said Epps. “We had a few issues with performance balancing as the throttle application wasn’t right so we weren’t strong in a straight line, but that was changed for the race was we got some poke back.
“The Sin is great fun to drive and very comfortable. Touring cars are pretty savage mechanically, but the GT4 is much softer and has decent aero. It’s not totally alien as I’ve raced rear-wheel drive before in single-seaters.
“I’ve been talking to the team [Sofia Car Motorsport] for a while and there may be some more chances in European GT4 for me this year, which would be nice.”
