Three members of the PFL Motorsport British GT team were injured after a freak accident when packing up after last weekend’s Silverstone 500.

The team was loading its Aston Martin Vantage GT3 into the truck when the tail lift failed, dropping the machine back into the garage. Two team members sustained minor injuries with a third sustaining a broken foot.

Silverstone dispatched two ambulances to the scene, one of which was involved in its own accident when it collided with a transport bus leaving the circuit medical centre on its way to the scene. All parties escaped major injury.

PFL team manager Paul Risbridger said: “It was a freak accident and it was very fortunate that nobody was more seriously injured.

“As soon as it happened the marshals and other teams came to help and the circuit medical staff were excellent. Everybody was thoroughly checked out.

“The car sustained quite heavy damage and has been sent back to Prodrive for evaluation.”
