Ju­nior Sa­loons star takes first podium in se­ries

A Bri­tish teenager who has been of­fered a test with the Amer­i­can TRG As­ton Martin team se­cured his first podium in cars in the re­cent Ju­nior Sa­loon Car Cham­pi­onship round.

Luke Brown­ing ( right), 14, fin­ished third in the sec­ond JSCC race at Don­ing­ton Park ear­lier this month de­spite be­ing the youngest driver on the grid. He has al­ready im­pressed coaches Chris Hod­getts and Tom Oliphant and TRG bosses – who have of­fered Brown­ing a test when he turns 16 years old.

Bri­tish GT star Jonny Adam has con­tested the Day­tona 24 Hours race with the TRG squad in the past.

“It’s Luke’s first sea­son of car rac­ing and he’s rac­ing against driv­ers who have been rac­ing for three years,” said his fa­ther Matt. “He has sur­prised us at how quickly he’s got a podium!

“He’s also been of­fered some open-wheel drives when he’s 16 but will prob­a­bly do a cou­ple of years of Saxos [in the JSCC] first.”
