Rockingham culls Cars and Stripes
The Pickup Truck rounds at Rockingham next month will still take place, despite the venue’s Cars and Stripes event being postponed.
The event, scheduled for July 2/3, has been cancelled after difficulties in securing support from backers.
The Cars and Stripes event ran for the first time last season. It celebrated all things American motorsport and featured static displays, NASCAR experiences and the Pickup Truck Championship staging a new showpiece race called the Rockingham 100.
Cars and Stripes has now been postponed until 2017. The British Automobile Racing Club will still hold the Pickup racing on the Sunday.
Rockingham issued a statement saying: “Cars and Stripes received much positive feedback from all those who attended. As a result we entered into discussions with several parties to provide support and partnership to grow the event. Due to circumstance beyond our control with these parties, this has not been possible and we were left with the difficult but necessary decision to postpone the event.”
