FF1600 ace Rob Hall starts his own team
Experienced Formula Ford 1600 driver Rob Hall plans to set up a two-car team in the National Championship next season and has bought a latest specification Ray in preparation.
Hall plans to race the GR16 in the Brands Hatch National round next month having shaken it down at Castle Combe at the end of May. He finished eighth in the second Combe FF1600 race despite starting near the back and was only 0.5s off the pace.
“We have been trying to set up and run a team for 18 months or so and the Mygale [that Hall previously competed in] is not the really the car of choice,” he said. “We did the first National round at Oulton Park but that didn’t go great – we were a little off the pace – and decided if we are going to do it [set up a team] we needed it to be with the right car. We looked at the different options and the Ray seemed the best choice.
“The plan is to get the car on the pace and to try get someone in the car for the Formula Ford Festival and Walter Hayes. We are looking for someone quick and experienced. Then we would like to run two cars in the National Championship in 2017.”
