Action is what Welsh campaign needs says...

Action. Excellent. For weeks this newspaper has backed the Rally4wales campaign to raise awareness of the MSA/NRW stalemate.

However, up until this point, it’s mostly been hot air. People saying this, people saying that. Heresay. As valuable as it’s been for keeping the campaign momentum moving, now we have the action we’ve yearned for.

This is a well-researched proposal with two very key elements. Edwards works day in, day out with the Welsh government and understands how its bodies and members work. His contact book in the government is substantial and he provides the knowledge on the bureaucracy.

Then you have Coedwigaeth Pencelyn, which not only looks after forests, but has a rallying background and all the necessary equipment to execute the repairs.

It does involve NRW allowing forest use for free, but because of the deficit NRW claims to have been amounting over the last year, it will also be better off.

While this deal may have potential flaws, it’s progress. It’s action.

Continue to back the Rally4wales campaign and make your local government representatives aware of the issues in Wales.

A solution could well be around the corner if all parties can agree.
