Teenager is top of the European driving ranks
Former MSA Junior Rallycross champion Kevin Hansen dominated the FIA European Rallycross Championship section of the Hell event in a similar way to that of Bakkerud in the main World Rallycross division.
The 18-year-old Swede finished fastest in every session on track to win his second round in the series in succession. Former World RX driver Tord Linnerud finished second in the final while circuit racing convert Tamas Pal Kiss scored his first podium in international rallycross, despite picking up a puncture in the final. The Hungarian had made it to fourth but crossed the line in third place after Jerome Grosset-janin hit engine woes.
Of the British and Irish contingent, Ollie O’donovan qualified for the semi-finals but twice jumped the start and was unable to begin the race. Former Touringcar champion Derek Tohill had a hard weekend with his Ford Fiesta and wound up 17th, while Andy Scott’s return to competition was hampered by a puncture in the qualifying stages, before missing Q4 altogether. Mark Flaherty had turbo issues.
