Teenager is top of the Euro­pean driv­ing ranks

For­mer MSA Ju­nior Ral­ly­cross cham­pion Kevin Hansen dom­i­nated the FIA Euro­pean Ral­ly­cross Cham­pi­onship sec­tion of the Hell event in a sim­i­lar way to that of Bakkerud in the main World Ral­ly­cross divi­sion.

The 18-year-old Swede fin­ished fastest in ev­ery ses­sion on track to win his sec­ond round in the se­ries in suc­ces­sion. For­mer World RX driver Tord Lin­nerud fin­ished sec­ond in the fi­nal while cir­cuit rac­ing con­vert Ta­mas Pal Kiss scored his first podium in in­ter­na­tional ral­ly­cross, de­spite pick­ing up a punc­ture in the fi­nal. The Hun­gar­ian had made it to fourth but crossed the line in third place af­ter Jerome Gros­set-janin hit en­gine woes.

Of the Bri­tish and Ir­ish con­tin­gent, Ol­lie O’dono­van qual­i­fied for the semi-fi­nals but twice jumped the start and was un­able to be­gin the race. For­mer Tour­ing­car cham­pion Derek To­hill had a hard week­end with his Ford Fi­esta and wound up 17th, while Andy Scott’s re­turn to com­pe­ti­tion was ham­pered by a punc­ture in the qual­i­fy­ing stages, be­fore miss­ing Q4 al­to­gether. Mark Fla­herty had turbo is­sues.
