‘Pursuit of Power’ is themed
This year’s Festival of Speed is celebrating the most powerful competition machines ever produced under the heading of ‘Full Throttle; the endless pursuit of power’.
The cars and bikes in action will include turbo F1 cars, pre-war Silver Arrows Grand Prix cars, Can-am sports-racing cars, aero-engined monsters from the early years of the sport and Group B rally cars.
The Can-am category will also be celebrated to mark the 50th anniversary of its first season, while a gaggle of Ford GT40S will honour 50 years since the model’s first Le Mans wins.
The 40th anniversary of James Hunt’s World Championship will be featured with a display of many of his race cars.
