Le Coadou and Sorensen recover from slow start to take Three Counties victory
Closest battle of the day came in class A, where Carl Fricker/ Ryan Harris (Vauxhall Nova), in the driver’s first rally for over 10 years, beat in form Edward Lambert /Gareth Drayton (Peugeot 106 Rallye) by three seconds.
Edward Todd/andrew Brown (GTM Coupe) finished in third, four seconds behind.
Persistent drizzle left competitors scrabbling for grip on an unpredictable surface, but both Kelly and Todd seemed unworried. They stormed off into the morning mist and their pace caught everyone, including Le Coadou, unawares: by stage three the Toyota man lay third, nine seconds in arrears. The realisation stung him into action; taking a chance on intermediate tyres, he went fastest on stages four and five to reel in the leading pair. With a 16s lead established he erred on the safe side by fitting wets for the final two tests.
