TV GUIDE LISTINGS A STEP BACK IN TIME
ART EDITOR MIKE STOKOE’S FAVOURITE OF ALL THE ACTION FROM GOODWOOD’S FESTIVAL
This week the TV guide is taking a trip down memory lane, with another week to wait before we return to F1 action in Austria.
The first of this week’s offerings is the infamous Japanese Grand Prix, where – perhaps predictably – Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost collided in what is one of the all-time best remembered F1 encounters (Thursday, 2100-2145hrs, Motors TV). The other offering is the 1986 Mexican Grand Prix, won by Gerhard Berger. It was his and Benetton’s first F1 victory.
There’s also a chance to catch up on some more current action this week. The BMW Compact Cup is always a thriller (Friday, 17201750hrs, Motors TV), while the Metro Cup (Friday, 1750-1825hrs, Motors TV) and MG Trophy (Friday, 2000-2100hrs, Motors TV) were in action at Silverstone a few weeks ago.
In the rally world, there’s daily highlights of next weekend’s Rally Ypres, one of the most highly rated asphalt rallies in the world. Catch the action on Friday (2300-2330hrs, Eurosport 1) and Saturday (23002330hrs, Eurosport 1).
A bit closer to home, highlights of the Northern Ireland Rally Championship’s latest round at Cavan is on offer (Wednesday, 1855-2030, Motors TV).
