Jennings hoping for car fix for Lurgan Park

-

Defending Lurgan Park Rally winner Garry Jennings has been assured that the engine for his Subaru will be fixed in time for Saturday’s event.

The engine had only just been rebuilt in the run up to Donegal. It dropped a piston four miles into the opening stage of the three-day event, and with the damage terminal, he was forced to pull out.

“With the Lurgan Park Rally coming up we decided not to waste any time removing the engine from the car and getting it sent over to England,” he explained.

Jennings is aiming for his fourth-straight victory at the North Armagh Motor Club event having conquered it in 2013, 2014 and again in 2015.

Declan Boyle will attempt the event for the first time and will be hoping to be Jennings’ closest challenger in his Ford Fiesta RS WRC. He too retired from Donegal with a gearbox problem. Boyle is third on the seeded entry list.
