Webster to return to Porsche in Supercup
Former Porsche Carrera Cup GB champion Josh Webster will race a 991 Cup car for the first time since leaving the series this weekend when he competes in the Porsche Supercup at Silverstone.
The 2014 Carrera Cup champion will join the Project 1 team for the British Supercup round having contested selected events of different sportscar series this season, including winning a GT Open race at Spa.
“I’m really looking forward to it, it will be my first time back in a 991 Cup car since last year,” said Webster. “I did the last two Silverstone Supercup races in 2014 and 2015 and thought I would carry on the tradition. I will be racing for Project 1 who ran Philipp Eng [Supercup champion] last year so it is quite an experienced team with a lot of expertise with good drivers.
“There will be no pressure and I’m looking forward to seeing how I compare with the GB drivers. I’m just going to have fun and I think you perform at your best then.” Webster is set to be joined at Project 1 by fellow Brit Nick Yelloly, who is competing in the Porsche Carrera Cup Germany series this year with the team.
